In the last weekend of May 2009, Lidervet celebrated its tenth anniversary by inviting our most outstanding customers to a Working Conference on Intestinal Health at Hotel Termas Marinas "El Palasiet" in Benicàssim, Castellón.
On Saturday 30th, the meeting was opened by Pedro Peñalver, Head of Research and Development in Lidervet, who welcomed and thanked the public and lecturers for their attendance. The first conference was given by Professor Dr. Romuald Zabielski(1) from the University of Warsaw, with his lecture on "Neonatal and weaning diarrhea in pigs - old problem, new solutions".
The following speech was given by Prof. Dr Chlodwig Franz(2) from the University of Vienna, who spoke at length on "Aromatic plants, essential oils and volatiles in animal feeding".
After the morning session, the attendance held a working lunch. The afternoon session was opened by Dr Ignacio Badiola Sáiz(3), who gave a scientific talk entitled "The molecular tools in the analysis of intestinal microbiota". These conferences were closed by Dr Francisco A. Tomás-Barberán(4), who spoke about "Metabolism of antioxidant polyphenols in pigs and ruminants".
After the lectures, which were followed with great interest because of their scientific level and amenity, an interesting discussion started between attendants and speakers, where the doctors and audience debated issues raised by the lectures. After a refreshing break, and with an aperitif before, the official dinner of the event was held.
Our customers' companions were given a present which comprised of a beauty and relaxation treatment, that lasted all day. And, on Sunday morning, customers and guests were able to enjoy a relaxing "Biomarine tour". After lunch the social act was closed.
In this environment of science and relaxation, in such wonderful surroundings, we were fortunate enough to enjoy the masterful skills of chef Paco Clusell, who had previously worked, among others, with masters like Martin Berasategui, Arzak, or in the restaurant "Gargantúa" in Barcelona.
Given the interest shown by some technicians in this industry on attending the conferences, Lidervet opened the lectures to this public, inviting all the people who asked for it, free of charge, to the lectures and the working lunch.
Intentions for the future.
After observing the scientific level of the speakers and the degree of participation in the symposium, Lidervet intends to consolidate this type of event in the future with entertaining lively speakers, where the public will also be able to participate, by contributing with their professional experiences, because in this conference the attendants learned a lot of useful information, and as there were also plenty of signs of genuine friendship.
